The Modern Project Manager: Predictive or Agile, We Do It All
FREE 1-hour LIVE webinar
Date: 19 February 2025
Time: 12:00 – 13:00 CET
So many organizations failing to understand the changed world of business turn to agility as the silver bullet, hoping that it will solve all their problems at once. With an agile transition using a variation of Scrum, it is assumed that project managers are not needed anymore, their work divided across the triumvirate of a Product Owner, a Scrum Master, and the Developers role. It all sounds ideal, but enterprises struggling with Taylorism are usually desperate for someone connecting the disjointed parts of an organization to deliver meaningful products. While inexperienced project managers may offer little value, professional and competent ones are a different story. They can help a transition with their understanding of the business dynamics, navigating conflicting decision making and fostering collaboration. Their role might not be needed in an agile enterprise, but their skills are. Irrelevant of the chosen strategy execution approach, someone who can connect the long term with the short term, get things done without much authority and has a laser-sharp focus on making customers happy is valuable regardless of what their job title is.
Modern project managers need to be competent in the traditional, predictive ways, not just for endeavours better delivered that way, but also to bring the full understanding of what we need to leave behind for products better developed using agile. They need their skills as change agents, possessing the necessary agile knowledge while being flexible enough to tailor approaches to specific endeavours. This versatility allows them to add significant value to organizations at various maturity levels.
In this short webinar, we will discuss the challenges faced by project managers in an evolving landscape that demands their skills but often overlooks their contributions, highlighting the flexibility and competence needed to support their organizations.
